Mine Props

American Mine Door's mine props are simple, dependable, and reusable by design. One man installation of our mine props means you not only save on the purchase of our economical design, but continue to save on personnel time during installation.

Mine Props

AMD's unique design keeps the screw from spinning during installation, allowing a single miner to efficiently secure each mine prop in place.  No loose parts, no jacks, no Velcro straps, no pumps, no loose bolts, no collars, and no wedges assure ease of installation. The top plate is stationary and will not rotate during height adjustment.

We recognize that price and fast delivery are critical to maintaining cost-effective uptime, and American Mine Door excels at meeting your needs in both areas.

Used to provide roof support in various underground coal mining applications, American Mine Door's mine props are typically used in 50 and 100 ton applications. Our mine props have performance characteristics that have been verified through full-scale testing in the NIOSH Mine Roof Simulator.

Design and Installation of AMD Mine Props

  • Props are designed in two load rating capacities, 50 and 100 ton applications. Both units can be used with the various head designs to accommodate your mine's secondary roof control requirements.
  • A threaded spindle provides easy adjustment by turning a handle/nut assembly to quickly "extend" the head assembly to the roof. Our design enables a single miner to turn the handle in order to achieve upward travel without holding onto the threaded spindle; unlike other designs.
  • There are various head plates that sit atop of the threaded spindle. Each optional "head plate" is used for customizing to the user's specific requirements. The three varieties offered include flat steel plate in various sizes, "Canadian head," or steel channel, and yieldable dish. The yieldable dish deforms under load to absorb roof to floor deformation.

Key Features of AMD Mine Props

  • Available in two load rating capacities: 50 ton and 100 ton.
  • Simple and efficient design allows a single miner to quickly install the AMD Mine Prop.
  • Less material handling than wood props: more steel props can be transported per truck or rail car than wood props; which in turn allows more props to be installed in less time.
  • Will not disrupt your mine's ventilation plan, like other "bulky" props.
Available with 12" adjustable tops and in heights from 4 feet to 11 feet (order in 6" increments).
  • Flat Plate, Canadian Head or Yieldable Dish Prop tops available.
  • No loose parts, no jacks, no collars, no wedges, no additional tools required for installation.
