Track Cleaners are pulled by the mine's
locomotive by means of a hitch.
 The
Track Cleaner cleans the track by two
methods, one is by using the forward plows
to scoop the excess debris from the outside
of the rail way, once set to the best
position, they funnel the debris up into the
area between the tracks.
Between the rails is a
digger plate that rides ½” above the
railroad ties, stripping through any debris
that has compacted from the rail cars. The
broken loose material, along with the
material from outside the rail then rides up
the digger plate onto a gathering conveyor
chain-way. This gathering chain carries the
debris unto another conveyor (boom conveyor)
that travels the material into a receiving
train car being pulled by the Track Cleaner
(coupled together).

Our Model 75 Track Cleaners (formerly the
Canton Track Cleaner) have a clean spillage
rate exceeding 1 TON per minute, clearing
the roadbed for a distance of 6' 6" from the
centerline on each side of the track and
leveling the roadbed a total of 13' 0" out
to out with plow extensions. A medium size
locomotive tows the cleaner, one or more
empties, and the change motor.
